Welcome to Looliemom Fiber Arts

I came to fiber arts via the back door of an art education. My experience was of a more “traditional” Fine Arts background of drawing and painting, but I always found myself searching for my niche.
I learned to knit in 2003 because of my daughter “loolie”. I came from a long line of knitters and felt like if I didn’t knit something for one of my children I’d be the worst mother in the whole world. My knitting passion then snowballed out of control when I learned to spin and dye my own yarns and fibers.
By incorporating my art background with fiber and yarn, I’ve found that I am not just creating my own wearable art creations; I am now also enjoying being a part of a collaborative creative process. When I sell my hand-dyed fibers and hand-spun yarns, my creations then become a part of someone else’s creativity and become a part of a bigger “picture”.
I love applying the elements of art (form, color, intensity, value, space and texture) to the fiber, yarns, and finished knitwear I create.
I look forward to sharing my fiber and yarns with you; and seeing what you create when you add your own personal creative touches. I also hope to inspire your creativity by sharing my finished knitting projects.
